Minnesota’s Coolest Icy Winter Display Is Only An Hour From Faribault
Well, we've nearly made it through 2021, and to celebrate, I think we ought to buy some tickets to Minnesota's coolest winter ice display.
New Brighton's marvelous Ice Castles are back for another year of family-fun enjoyment.
According to their website,
"Ice Castles is an award-winning frozen attraction located in five cities across North America. The experience is built using hundreds of thousands of icicles hand-placed by professional ice artists."
At this winter attraction, you'll find LED-lit sculptures, frozen thrones, ice-carved tunnels, caverns slides, and fountains.
(Kids especially love the tunnels and slides.)
You must admit the architecture is rather stunning. Everywhere you look, there is a different, spectacular kind of beauty.
Tickets go on sale in the beginning of January. General admission ranges from $15 (Monday through Thursday) to $22 (Friday through Sunday). Child admission is $11 on weekdays and $16 on weekends.
Naturally, all dates are weather-dependent, but with the cold January headed our way, it seems we shouldn't run into any issues.
To find the castles, head to Long Lake Regional Park (1500 Old Highway 8) in New Brighton. Free parking is available throughout the park.
Another icy wonder families can visit this January is the Ice Palace Maze in Stillwater.
This maze has over 2900 blocks of ice, a half-mile of twisty little passages, a huge ice slide, and even an ice bar for adults. (I personally like the sound of that!)
Both locations offer a scene unlike any other. So, grab the kids, bundle up and bring the camera.
