Minnesota Residents Are Ready to Travel Again
With things starting to slowly open back up and return to normal, many Minnesotans are looking forward to traveling again.
Consumers are anxious to travel, but also concerned about their safety. Travel and tourism businesses across the state are listening and have made visitors' safety a priority, implementing stringent safety protocols including increased sanitization, contactless check-in, staff wearing masks and more.
Due to the Coronavirus, the travel industry has been hit hard financially and are hoping to bounce back and recover. Since Mid-March, many people have been staying at home and with things slowing starting to open back up, people are looking to get back out and enjoy nature and travel.
According to a recent survey by Explore Minnesota, 41.3 percent of Minnesotans are planning their next trip ether local or still with in the State. 20.5 percent are looking to travel regional (within 500 miles from home) and 20.3 percent are planning on going somewhere more than 500 miles from their home.
The tourism industry has been significantly impacted and forever changed in recent months, but these targeted survey results offer a cautious sense of optimism about the future of travel throughout Minnesota.- John Edman, Explore Minnesota's State Tourism Director
