According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Southern Minnesota typically sees peak fall colors anywhere from late September to late October, and this year things to be running a bit behind.

Looking for a little guidance for your weekend fall color drive? The northern half of the state is off to a pretty good start, with fall colors anywhere from 25 to 50 percent of peak. The far northwest corner of the state is your best bet for a beautiful dose of fall foliage.

For the most part, the southern third of Minnesota is still only at 10 to 50 percent of peak color.

This fall's transition from green to brilliant has been slower than the past couple of years, attributed to our warm September. As you can see below, 2020 and 2021 were were quite a bit farther along than we are here in 2022.

Eastern Minnesota State Parks like Interstate, Banning, and Jay Cooke are not to be missed in the fall. It goes without saying that the North Shore parks are also epic.
