Mickey’s Diner in St. Paul Sets Up GoFundMe Page to Avoid Closure

If you've spent any time in the Twin Cities, there's a great chance you've seen, and likely eaten at, Mickey's Diner in St. Paul.  The landmark eatery suspended 24/7 service due to the pandemic and the owners are hoping public support can help keep them open now and in the future.

The owners set up a GoFundMe page in an effort to raise $50,000 which would be a start to help keep them afloat until things return to normal.  Their page states:

The pandemic, long stretches without indoor dining, downtown attractions, and events, have left historic Mickey’s Diner struggling to keep the ember glowing. Mickey’s took the pandemic seriously and suspended 24/7 service for the first time in its 80 year history. Please consider supporting the continuing efforts of this local, national and historic landmark to keep its sign glowing over St Paul now and for the future.

Mikey's Diner opened in 1939 and it remains a family owned business.  The landmark has been featured in movies, such as 'The Mighty Ducks', 'Jingle All the Way', 'Untamed Heart' and 'A Prairie Home Companion'.

Personally, I've eaten there several times as back when we were able to go to concerts at Xcel Energy Center, my friends and I would often find our way there for some late night/early morning grub.

The pandemic has hurt a lot of businesses, especially those who get a boost from the additional traffic that concerts and events can provide.   Obviously, a lot of people hold Mickey's Diner near and dear as they've already surpassed their initial $50,000 goal and, as of January 4, have raised over $66,000.
