[Update: Arrest made in stabbing.] Owatonna Police are investigating an overnight stabbing that left a man with life threatening injuries. In a press release, the department reports being dispatched to 1120 East School Street at 3:47 am Tuesday, March 30 to the scene of a domestic dispute that ended with a stabbing.

"Responding officers found a 42-year old male victim who had suffered stab wounds to the chest. Emergency medical care was provided at the scene and the victim was transported by Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service to the Owatonna airport for an awaiting air ambulance," the release states.

The victim was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester via North Memorial Air Care. The man's identity was not included in the news release.

In an updated news release Tuesday afternoon, the Owatonna Police Department reports an arrest of a female suspect. Shortly before 12 pm, "the Waseca Police Department conducted a traffic stop under the direction of Owatonna Police Department detectives of a female identified as a suspect in this case. The female suspect, age 34 from Waseca, was placed under arrest and is being held at the Steele County Detention Center."

Officials continue to ask anyone with information to come forward, "Investigators are asking any members of the public who may have information about this incident to call the Owatonna Police Department at 507-444-3800...This remains an ongoing investigation. Further information will be released as the investigation progresses."

Owatonna Police were assisted by the Steele County Sheriff's Office in addition to the South Central Drug Investigation Unit.
