Virginia, MN (KROC AM News) -  The driver of a stolen vehicle was seriously hurt Sunday during a police chase in northeast Minnesota.

The State Patrol says the chase began around noon near Virginia.

Two of the tires of the stolen SUV were shredded by stop sticks but the driver kept going. The State Patrol says one of the pursuing police vehicles then performed a P.I.T. maneuver on the SUV and it went into a ditch and rolled.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected, suffering life-threatening injuries. He was identified as 33-year-old Daniel Jauhola of Ely.
