Congratulations to the Spindler family, Eugene, Marion and son Dale for being chosen as the University of Minnesota Extension Steele County Farm family of the year. Typically the Spindler's would be recognized at the Steele County Free Fair Hall of Fame Program and also the statewide event the last day of Farmfest. Both of those events were canceled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So, it is nice to give them some recognition on the air.

Eugene and Marion began farming the year they were married in 1955. At that time farms were very diversified with many different crops and species of livestock. Over the years they specialized and for a number of years Dale has managed the dairy heard of 44 cows. For many years Dale has taken care of the Steele County American Dairy Association Malt Stand. Dale gets it ready, delivers it to the event, picks it up and then gets it ready for the next event.
