The #2 Class AAA seed Kasson-Mantorville KoMets rolled to victory in their quarterfinal round match with Sauk Rapids-Rice tonight at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Meanwhile #4 seed Lakeville North was defeated by Rogers in their Class AAAA Quarterfinal match.

The Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm came into the match with a 13-16 record after defeating the top seed in Section 8 Alexandria in 4 sets.

The KoMets dominated with scores of 25-16, 25-11, 25-15.

Kasson-Mantorville had an attack percentage for the match of .245, Sauk Rapids-Rice .011.  The Storm finished the match with 20 attack errors, 6 set errors, 11 serve receive errors, 5 serve errors and a block error.

The KoMets had 9 total attack errors, 3 set errors, 8 serve errors, 1 serve reception mistake and 0 block errors.

Total kills for K-M were 33, 11 ace serves.  Annika Larson led the team with 11 kills.  Ellie Ask had 10 kills with a blistering .320 attack percentage.  Larson hit .250.  Whitney Deno talllied 9 kills while hitting .200.

Setter Maddie Converse recorded 28 set assists.  Caitlyn Wanous had 15 digs, Deno 10 digs with a team total of 50.

Sauk Rapids-Rice total digs were 49.  The match lasted 65 minutes.

Other Class 3A matches:  Top seed Marshall breezed by St. Paul HIghland Park 25-14, 25-4, 25-10.

The Tigers had 40 kills in the 3 set match hitting .348 (.591 in the second set) while the Scots had 12 total kills in the match.

Grand Rapids lost their first set to Monticello 25-23 before coming back to win the next three sets by scores of 25-15, 25-13, 25-16.

The Thunderhawks won with strong serving and defense.  The Magic ended the match with 33 kills, Grand Rapids had 32 kills.

Grand Rapids tallied 10 ace serves and 6 errors, Monticello 5 aces and 12 errors.  The Thunderhawks ended the night with 7 blocks compared to 2 for the Magic.

New Prague dropped their opening set to Chisago Lakes Area 25-20 before winning the next three sets 25-17, 25-19, 25-11.  Anna Molstad led the way for the Trojans while connecting on 17 kills in the match.

The KoMets and Trojans will play Friday night at 7:00 p.m. after Marshall and Grand Rapids square off at 5:00 p.m.

In Class 4A Lakeville North won the first set 25-21 before succumbing to Rogers 25-15, 25-19, 26-24.  The Panthers finished with 15 attack errors, 11 serve errors and outblocked the Royals 13 to 6.

Lakeville North finished the match with 29 kills compared to Rogers with 56 kills in the four set match.  Rogers had 62 digs, the Panthers 42 digs.

The match lasted 1 hour 39 minutes. Kaitlyn Peterson led Lakeville North with 10 kills.  Former BA Cardinal Abby Jandro had 12 set assists and 7 digs.

The Panthers will play Roseville Area in the consolation bracket Thursday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.

Undefeated top seed Wayzata breezed by Roseville Area 25-9, 25-9, 25-14.  The Trojans attack percentage for the match was .402 with none of their players getting double digit kills.  Six players had 5 kills or more.  Libero Ella Voegele smacked 3 ace serves and had 11 digs in the match.

On the other side of the bracket #2 seed Eden Prairie lost the first two sets to Forest Lake by identical 26-24 scores before the Eagles captured set 3, 25-22, set 4, 25-18 and set 5, 21-19.

The match lasted 2 hours 19 minutes.

Eden Prairie's Kendall Minta had an attack percentage for the match of .525 with 22 kills and one hitting error.  The Rangers had more kills (67 to 62), more blocks (14 to 12), more service aces (9 to 8) but the Eagles finished with 94 digs, Forest Lake 87 digs.

The #3 seed East Ridge Raptors earned a date with Eden Prairie after downing Bloomington Jefferson in four sets.  The Jaguars won the first set 25-11 before East Ridge of Woodbury captured 25-17, 25-21, 28-26 wins.

Britt Carlson led East Ridge with 18 kills, 2 ace blocks while achieving a .300 attack percentage.

Eden Prairie and East Ridge play at 3:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

There was no state tournament because of COVID last year.
