There's nothing like a little luck when you're at the casino, as one Minnesota man just found out when he won big out down in Iowa recently.

It was just about two years ago when we heard the news that Minnesota was home to a REALLY big (life-changing, you might say) winner at Treasure Island Resort and Casino. The winner, who (understandably) wanted to remain anonymous hit it big on a progressive jackpot worth over a million dollars! (And she's not the only one-- click HERE to see other big winners at TI.)

And while this jackpot isn't that big, a Minnesota man still did pretty well while playing the slots at a Diamond Jo Worth Casino down in Northwood, Iowa last week. According to the news release from Boyd Gaming, who owns Diamond Jo Worth Casino, the man (who's from Albert Lea) placed a $5 bet... and ended up winning over $93,000!

A lucky guest from Albert Lea, Minnesota turned a visit to Diamond Jo Casino into a payday when he scored a major progressive jackpot on IGT’s Wheel of Fortune® slots. The winner was playing Wheel of Fortune® 2x3x4x5x Super Times Pay slot machine on Thursday, January 12, when he placed a $5 bet and won a prize of $93,522.56!

Those of us who live here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes have had a history of winning big not just here in Minnesota and Iowa but down in Las Vegas, as well. Do you remember when another Minnesotan won big at Bally's?

It was in February of 2021 when Bally's Las Vegas noted on their Twitter page that a guest named Shannon (from Vadnais Heights, Minnesota, in the northeast Metro, about an hour and 25 minutes north of Rochester) just won big as well-- winning a jackpot worth $231,459 playing Three Card Poker.

Now while winning that much money must be nice, it's not quite enough to any of those winners the richest person in the North Star State. Do you know who IS the richest Minnesotan? Keep scrolling to check out who tops the list here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes-- and in every other state too!
