The Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinals broke open a 2-2 game with the Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights with a 4-run 6th inning today to win 6-2 at Alexander Park North in Faribault.

Juniors Morgan Wilson for BA and Josie Flom of K-W were locked into a pitcher's duel until the Cardinals collected 8 of their 11 hits in the fourth through sixth innings.

Wlson recorded 9 strikeouts through the first three innings and finished the game with 13 punch outs.  She walked 1 and hit 4 batters while throwing 115 pitches, 77 strikes.

The Knights had 3 hits in the game while BA hammered 11 hits.

With one out in the top of the 4th inning K-W pitcher Josie Flom was hit by a pitch.  Ivette Mendoza was hit by a pitch and Sophia Poquette had a bunt single to load the bases.

Alina Mendoza hit a ball to center to score Flom from third base givingh  K-W a 1-0 lead.

Bethlehem Academy answered in the bottom of the inning.  Kate Trump opened with a double followed by a Morgan Wilson single.  Sarah Tobin had an infield single.

Josie Rose popped out to the pitcher.  Caitlin Bothun hit a grounder to third base.  Ivette Mendoza stepped on third base to retire Wilson's courtesy runner Joycelyn Simones.  Lindsay Hanson singled to load the bases before Anna Cohen was retired on a pop out to the pitcher.

Knights #9 batter Vanessa Bartel started the fifth inning with a grounder to shortstop ending in an error.  Following a ground out and strikeout Sidney Majerus clubbed an RBI single.

Majerus stole third base while Flom was at the plate.  Flom was walked and stole second before Ivette Mendoza grounded out to end the K-W threat.

Bottom of the 5th Bethlehem Academy answered when Reagan Kangas hammered a double.  Kangas would advance to third base on a fly out by Anna Tobin.  Trump smacked a RBI single to tie the game.

Following a up and down in order top of the 6th inning by the Knights the bottom of the inning started with back-to-back errors of balls hit by the #8 and #9 hitters.  A strikeout passed ball loaded the bases.

Kangas hit a RBI single.  Anna Tobin collected a two-run single before Trump hit a towering fly ball to left that was caught but Kangas's courtesy runner Brylie Becker scored.

The Malecha's Auto Body of Faribault crunch time Faribault players of the game were Kangas, Anna Tobin and Trump.  They scored 3 of the Cardinals runs while having 7 of the team's 11 hits.

The Cashwise Foods and Pharmacy of Owatonna Delivery of the game for the Cardinals went to pitcher Wilson with her 115 pitches, 77 for strikes 3-hitter performance.

Majerus was chosen the Kenyon-Wanamingo Cashwise Delivery with her two hits and RBI.

Flom threw 101 pitches over six innings, 71 strikes.

K-W fell to 2-4 while the Cardinals are 5-0 to start the season.

The Knights host Hayfield while BA goes to Medford Thursday.  Both are scheduled 4:30 p.m. first pitches.
