Ice From A Semi-Trailer Shatters Van Windshield On Rural Road
I think it's safe to say that we all are guilty of this from time to time. You're running late, your car is covered in snow, and you might just brush off the windshield and let the rest fall off as you drive. Not only is that illegal, but it's also a safety issue, and a local company just shared an accident that happened because of it.
Superior Fuel Company Shares Scary Video
Superior Fuel Company services Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin. They had a driver out in his van who got the scare of his life. He was driving on a two-lane road in a rural area when he encountered a semi-truck hauling lumber heading the opposite direction.
A chunk of ice blew off the top of the logging truck and crashed into the van's windshield, causing it to completely crack. The chunk of ice looks to be about the size of a refrigerator door, and it was solid enough to smash the hood and windshield of the van.

Fortunately, the driver was able to pull over without crashing. Both the driver and his dog inside the vehicle were reported as safe by Superior Fuel Company.

The company shared this as a friendly reminder to clear off the snow and ice from your vehicles. Scary stuff, huh?
Driving with snow on your vehicle won't put you in jail, but it can be a misdemeanor crime punishable by a fine.
