Property Seizure Scam Circulating In Minnesota
Tax season is upon us so it should come to no surprise to you that there is yet another scam to be aware of, with scammers preying upon this unpopular time of the year. This particular scam was reported in Minnesota, too.

This scam was first reported earlier this month by the official Facebook page for Stearns County, stating that the scam is on the move across the state. In fact, this scam has already popped up in a handful of places in Minnesota.
So how does this scam work? According to the Facebook warning put out by Stearns County officials, residents all over the state are getting physical letters in their mailbox, stating that their property will be seized because they didn't pay their taxes.
The scam has been reported in Ramsey County, just a few hours from the Duluth area, and in Mille Lacs County. With this scam popping up all over the state, this is one scam that could happen anywhere at any time in the near future.
This scam, according to the initial warning put out by Stearns County, was first reported in December and seems to still be going strong into February. This type of scam wouldn't be too hard to fall for because opening a letter like this would cause panic, making you more susceptible to the scam.
It is also unlikely that you would be notified of a property seizure like this. Stearns County officials say that a letter like this would only come from their official auditor, so that is a good rule of thumb to keep in mind no matter which county you reside in.
