Huskies Roar Past Tigers
Owatonna's baseball team fell behind 3-0 through two innings at Hayek Field in Albert Lea. The tide changed in the third inning as the Huskies put together an eight-run third on their way to a 13-4 victory. Every Owatonna starter had at least one hit. Junior pitcher Sam Henson threw a complete game, striking out seven and giving up just six hits.
Jake Miller and Casey Cumberland each hit a two-run double in the third inning. Isaac Gefre and Ben Zappa each had two RBI's for the game. Miller and Zach Wiese each collected two hits. OHS only batted three batters in each of the first two innings. The Huskies scored in three of the next four innings.
Henson faced the minimum in four of the last five innings. Albert Lea scored twice in the first and added a run in the second for a 3-0. After the Huskies had their big eight-run third, the Tigers led off the inning with a home run, but was ruled out for removing his helmet before crossing home plate. The Tigers only had one more hit the rest of the way.
Owatonna hosts Rochester John Marshall Friday (weather permitting) and will host Senior Night.
OHS softball gave up a run to Albert Lea in the first inning, but then plated five in the second on the way to a 10-3 Owatonna win. Liv Larson paced the Huskies 15-hit attack with a 3-for-4 day which included two runs scored and an RBI.
Parris Hovden, Anna Vetsch, Mia Hiber and MeKenna Schroht each had two hits.
The Huskies go to John Marshall Friday for a makeup game.
