How Smart are Minnesota Sports Fans?
As you sit there hollering at the TV about Mike Zimmer's play-calling, or become frustrated by Rocco Baldelli's use of his pitching staff, know this. They are probably smarter than you. About sports, anyway.
A new survey from usbets.com indicates that Minneapolis (and I'll extrapolate that to include all of Minnesota) is only the 37th smartest sports city. Conclusions for the rankings come from the types of questions asked through Google searches.
And the top query from Minneapolis (read Minnesota) sports fans is...
'What is a hat trick?'
Huh? That's the most frequent question from this state? The supposed 'state of hockey?'
New York ranks first on the list. Authors of the survey state it's because sports fans from that state don't search sports questions as much as people in other states. That implies that they already know it all, according to the survey methodology.
- New York
- Los Angeles
- Chicago
- Houston
- Phoenix
- San Antonio
- Kansas City
- Philadelphia
- San Diego
- Dallas
The most frequent question in some states is pretty amusing.
- Mississippi: How many innings in a baseball game?
- Texas: What is shortstop in baseball?
- Idaho: Who is Tom Brady?
- Florida: Who is Aaron Rogers?
The most frequent topic concerns the strike zone in baseball.
