The Steele County Historical Society is seeking nominations for its 2018 Preservation Awards. Each year two Steele County buildings or properties are recognized for their outstanding preservation and or restoration efforts.

Nominations may include homes, businesses, farmsteads or other rural properties and accurately reflect the architecture of the time it was built.

To nominate, submit a letter explaining why you have chose the property, background information, a photo and contact number. Nominations need to be received by the Steele County Historical Society by April 30. The awards will be announced in May during National Preservation Month.

In other news the Steele County History Center will host the Gopher State Archaeological Society Artifact Show on Saturday, April 7. The event is free and open to the public and will run 9-3PM.  The displays will cover all time periods and will also feature artifacts from Steele County as well as other parts of Minnesota.
