Heavy Thunderstorms Causing Problems In Southeastern Minnesota
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued earlier on Thursday morning for parts of Rice and Steele counties. No damage reports have been received so far from this storm.
More heavy thunderstorms are moving through southeastern Minnesota. The National Weather Service has issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for poor drainage areas for southwestern Olmsted County in southeastern Minnesota as well as Mower County. That is in effect until just after noon.
Some locations that will experience flooding include: Rochester, Stewartville, Byron, Marion, High Forest, Pleasant Grove, Rock Dell and Chester. Drainage systems will have difficulties keeping up with rainfall rates, which radar estimates to be near 1 inch per hour. This will result in minor flooding, especially in urban areas.
Remember when it comes to flooded roads, turn around. Don't drown.
