Have You Had Your Home Tested For Radon?
Seems that there are so many things to be afraid of, lately. But this one has been around forever. Radon, an odorless, colorless and tasteless gas that naturally occurs in in the soil all across the state of Minnesota.
This scary gas is the leading cause of lung cancer among non smokers. I know someone that lost both his parents to cancer when they were in their early 50's, due to the effects of radon gas. Their house was tested and the tester said the radon exposure in their house was equivalent to smoking 4 packs of cigarettes a day.
Minnesota health officials are recommending that you have your home tested for radon this winter. This winter, it's more important than ever because of the amount of time we are all spending at home because of the pandemic.
There is only one way to actually know if you have a radon problem in your home. that would be to have your home tested for the gas. If radon is discovered, there are solutions to make your home safe.
For information on getting your home tested, call your city or county's health department. If you live in Wright County, Wright County Public Health is providing radon test kits at a reduced price of five dollars to Wright County residents.
