The Old Farmer's Almanac revealed their prediction for Minnesota's winter of 2020-2021. Now the Farmer's Almanac is ready to tell us what they see for this winter.

The headline for the 2021 Farmer's Almanac says, "Cold and snowy in the north. Drought in the west. And everything crazy in between! Which side are you on?"

I'll tell you what side we're on. According to the 2021 Farmer's Almanac we're on the "Cold with Above Normal Snowfall" side.

If you love the cold of winter, you’re going to love our forecast if you live in the northern half of the country. Our long-range forecast is calling for a cold winter with normal to below-normal temperatures in areas from the Great Lakes and Midwest. Expect above-normal snowfall if you live in the western Dakotas or Minnesota.

The National Weather Service and NOAA are also chiming in on what to expect for the upcoming winter according to the latest forecast models. The NWS is forecasting a 55 percent change on a La Nińa weather pattern for the country, but what would that mean for us?

What it means is that NOAA and the Farmer's Almanac are pretty close in their expectations for the winter ahead, forecasting somewhere between a little colder and a little wetter than normal for Minnesota.

NOAA is predicting above average snowfall this winter in Montana, Wyoming, and the Great Lakes area with an increased chance of precipitation in Northern Colorado starting in March. The unfortunate news is that NOAA is projecting above average temperatures for most of the United States throughout the winter of 2020-2021.
