Mankato Police suspect a Faribault man was intoxicated when he nearly crashed his minivan into a police squad car and continued to drive after police activated their emergency lights.

Multiple news agencies report that 28-year old Tethloac Chut of Faribault was charged with felony fleeing police, gross misdemeanor DWI-refusal and misdemeanor DWI Monday in Blue Earth County District Court.

According to police Chut went into the wrong lane and nearly struck a police sergeant on Riverfront Drive at Madison Avenue in Mankato in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 5th.

After the near collision Chut then reportedly continued to drive northbound even after the sergeant activated his lights and sustained a flat tire on the vehicle.

Chut continued to drive on the rim of the flat tire before he stopped at a residence in a mobile home park. Chut was arrested without incident.

The homeowner told police Chut had been out drinking and she was going to be the designated driver but Chut did not want to wait for her and drove himself.
