Brothers Nate and Nick Rost each hit 2 run home runs in the first inning to lead the Faribault Lakers over the Lonsdale Aces 5-1 tonight in Lonsdale.

Nate was also the winning pitcher for the Lakers who are a win away from the State Amateur Baseball Tournament.  The Aces season ended.

Phil Tisdel started the game on the mound for the Aces with Blake Langerud starting the game with a single on a 0-1 count.

Following a fly out and ground out Nate Rost took an 0-1 count pitch over the left center field fence.  Matt Lane jumped on the first pitch for a solid single before Nick Rost sent a 2-1 count pitch over the right field fence.

A 4-0 lead was all Faribault would need.  Nate Rost allowed a one out triple in the bottom of the first inning to Ross Beumer but he would not score.

The Lakers added a run in the 5th inning again with two outs in the scorebook.  Danny Pierce hammered a 1-0 count pitch to left center for a double which was followed by a hit from Joe Grote on a 0-1 count.

The Aces scored in the bottom of the 6th inning when Marty Kalina clubbed the 8th pitch of his at bat to left for a single. Beumer was behind 0-2 when he was grazed by the ball on the next pitch from Nate Rost.

Following a pop out Jack Skluzacek hit a 3-1 count ground ball to second base and Faribault took the out conceding the run.  Rost recorded his seventh strike out to end the sixth inning.

Nate Rost had allowed a single and double in the bottom of the 5th inning to start the inning and got out of the inning with no damage.  Devin Vosejpka hit a 0-2 pitch to left field for the single and Isaac Pint followed with a 0-1 count double.  Rost struck out the next two batters before Jordan Yetzer ended the inning with a hard hit liner that was caught in left field on the 8th pitch of his at bat.

Nate Rost gave up a 0-1 count single to Pint to start the bottom of the 7th inning but had a comeback ball to him and two fly outs to end the inning and his duties on the mound.  He finished the game throwing 88 pitches through 7 innings with 63 strikes, 7 strikeouts, 0 walks, 1 hit batter, scattering 6 hits.

Adam Fjerstad came in to replace Tisdel for Lonsdale and allowed no runs the rest of the way.  He went 4 1/3 innings with 60 pitches thrown, 39 strikes, 4 strikeouts, 1 walk, 1 hit batter.

Joe Grote came in to pitch the final two innings for the Lakers.  He threw 27 pitches, 17 strikes, 3 strikeouts, 1 hit allowed.
