Webster Sox ace pitcher Peter Tveite struck out 14 batters in a 8-0 win today over the Faribault Lakers in Webster.

The hard throwing right hander was dominant allowing just 4 singles in the game while walking 4 batters and hitting three.

The Lakers best pitcher this summer has been Danny Bomsta but he was having trouble getting his breaking ball in the strike zone.

In the third inning with two outs Webster #3 hitter Jake Elness was hit by a pitch followed by a walk of Will Arendt.   Cody Carlson cracked (literally....broke his bat) a single to left field scoring Ekness.  Ben Groff then hit a single to right field scoring Arendt before the last out was recorded.

It would be all the runs the Sox would need.

The Lakers best scoring chance came in the top of the 4th when Joe Grote was hit by a pitch followed by a walk.  Cleanup hitter Ryan Archambault hit into a double play leaving Grote at third base.  Dylan Valentyn was hit by a pitch for the second time in the game.

Tveite got a strike out to end the threat.

The bottom of the 5th inning started with a throwing error allowing Adam Schmitz to gain first base.  Ekness hit a 0-2 count single.

The next two batters were retired by Bomsta before Garoff hit a ball deep in the shortstop hole for a hit.  The ball was kicked into foul territory down the third baseline allowing Schmitz to score, Ekness also scored with the throw home hitting him resulting in the second error of the inning.

The catcher tried to throw out Garoff going to third base and a errant throw allowed him to score the third run of the inning.

Bomsta's day was done on the hill with 90 pitches thrown, 56 for strikes, 5 strikeouts, 4 walks, a hit batter. 5 hits allowed, 5 runs scored, 2 earned runs.  He would lose his first game of the season according to the incomplete GameChanger statistics for Faribault.

It was 5-0 Webster after 5 innings.

Archambault came in to pitch in the 6th inning.  He has not pitched much this season but down 5-0 Faribault manager Charlie Lechtenberg evidently didn't want to use any of his most used pitchers in the situation with two regular season games left.

With the first batter retired Arch hit the #9 batter.  Tveite then crushed a home run over the right field fence about 320 feet away.

The second out was recorded then Ekness hit a 0-2 count pitch resulting in a error.  He ended up at second base and scored on a single stroked by Arndt.

In the 7th inning Archambault hit the first batter Groff to start the inning prompting the umpire to come out to the mound and tell him if he hit another batter he would be ejected from the game and not be allowed to play the next game.

Tveite hit three batters through the first four innings including Valentyn twice with no warning issued.  I was sitting behind home plate and it appeared Valentyn reminded the umpire of that fact before resuming play.

He motioned in the direction of the Webster manager indicating maybe they should receive the same warning.  The umpire did so.

Faribault pulled Archambault and inserted Tyler Francis at pitcher placing Arch back in right field.  Archambault would play the 8th inning at first base.

Archambault threw to 8 batters, 13 pitches, 10 strikes, 2 hits, 2 hit batters, 3 runs allowed, 2 earned.

Francis ended the game with 2 innings pitched, 16 pitches thrown, 9 strikes with 1 strikeout, 1 walk, no hits allowed

Tveite went the distance throwing 127 pitches, 83 for strikes with 14 strikeouts, 4 walks, 3 hit batters, 4 hits, no runs allowed.

The Lakers are 13-15.  The Sox 9-12 according to their page on the Minnesota Baseball Association website .

Faribault was scheduled to play Saturday at St. Benedict but the game was rained out.

The Lakers will play St. Benedict at St. Patrick's Bonin Field 7:00 p.m. Monday and end the regular season at New Prague 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Sox end their regular season at Veseli Wednesday at 8:00 p.m.

The Coliseum at Webster Community Park has a new deck attached to the front of the concession stand.  The view is awesome.

The Trnka Deck allowed the stairs to be removed from inside the concession stand giving workers more room inside.

Webster team officials told KDHL total cost for the deck was approximately $15,500.

This is very interesting to read.

LOOK: The story behind every NFL team name

Stacker delved into the story behind every NFL football team name. Overall team records, also included, are reflective of NFL regular-season games. There are some football teams with well-known nicknames—the Jets, for instance, are often referred to as Gang Green—but we also divulge how some teams’ official names are sparingly used (the Jets’ neighbors, the Giants, are actually known as the New York Football Giants). Sometimes a team name can tell you a lot about local history: The Vikings of Minnesota draw upon the area’s strong ties to Scandinavia, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are dripping in local legend related to Florida’s pirate past.

Let’s kick off the countdown with the folks who earned their nickname by buying boxes of used team jerseys.
