Faribault High School today announced longtime varsity assistant Dan Pumper will be the new head coach of the boys hockey team.

Pumper was a member of the Falcons 1993 State Tournament team and graduated in 1995.  He has served as a varsity assistant for the past 12 seasons and coached the Junior Varsity for three years.

In addition to coaching at Faribault High School Pumper has coached hockey at the mite, squirt, peewee and bantam levels in the community.

In a News Release with the announcement Pumper is quoted as saying, "My interest in coaching is simple.  I love the game, and I really like to teach the little parts of the game.  The best part is when you see the growth in the kids.  It's amazing to see them grow up right before your eyes."

Pumper stated his main goals are to get the numbers in the program up and for playing hockey to be a fun experience for the players.

He says, "The biggest thing is to have fun.  If the guys have that, the winning will come.  So will the skill development.

Keith Badger, Faribault High School Activities Director is also quoted in the News Release saying, "Dan is a great hockey coach and an even better human being.  I am excited for the future of our hockey program with Coach Pumper at the helm."

Pumper takes over for Dean Weasler.

The Falcons will open their season November 30, 2021 at home against Rochester Century.

These are awesome.
