The Faribault Falcons girls hockey team tied their game at Mankato East with 34 seconds to go in the game but the Cougars scored 14 seconds later to notch a 5-4 win over the Falcons Tuesday night.  Faribault outshot Mankato East 36-25, was 2 for 6 on the power play and held the Cougars to 1 for 5 on the power play.  Mankato East scored their first goal 91 seconds into the game and again a little over two minutes later to take a 2-0 lead.  Kayli Burkhartzmeyer scored a power play goal with one minute to go in the period assisted by Rylie Starkson and Olivia Williamson to make the score 2-1 at the end of the first period.  Faribault had 13 shots and Mankato East 8 shots on goal in the period.

The Cougars outshot the Falcons in the second period 13-8 and scored the only goal of the period at the 13:32 mark to take a 3-1 lead into the third period.  Faribault dominated the puck in the final period outshooting Mankato East 15 to 4.  6:31 into the third period Olivia Williamson scored an event strength unassisted goal to make the score 3-2.  About 2 minutes later Bri Adams got a power play goal for Mankato East to extend their lead to 4-2.  At 11:49 Tegan Herrley scored for Faribault with an assist to Rylie Starkson.

With 34 seconds to go in regulation Kayli Burkhartzmeyer scored a power play goal assisted by Ellie Knutson and Olivia Morelan to tie the game at 4.

With 20 seconds to go Madison Davis scored the game winner for the Cougars handing the Falcons their second straight loss after opening the season 6-0.

Junior goalie Mikayla Bohner had 20 saves and the Cougar goalie Andrea Schreiber 32 stops for the win.
