We all remember the Halloween Blizzard of '91, right? But will this Halloween set a record as the coldest-ever in Minnesota?

If you've been living in Minnesota for long enough (and if you're old enough), you surely remember the Halloween Blizzard of 1991. It dumped a TON of snow on the Land of 10,000 Lakes and, just like that late-season blizzard that dumped nearly 18 inches of snow on us on May 2nd back in 2013, talking about it is a rite of passage here in the North Star State.

But will this Halloween set a record, too-- as the coldest ever? Well, according to former ABC-6 meteorologist Cindy Morgan (who still does an incredible job keeping us informed with her daily 'Couch Cast' on her Facebook page), the average high in our neck of the woods on Halloween is about 52 degrees.

Yeah, we're not going to be even close to that this year. Highs for this Halloween are forecast to be in the mid to upper 30's, with temps in the low to mid 30's when the kiddos head out trick-or-treating.

But is that the coldest-ever Halloween?

Well, it'll be close, but it looks like won't necessarily break any records. According to this story from the Minnesota DNR, the coldest-ever Halloween in Minnesota was a "bone-chilling 26 degrees back in 1873." So, thankfully, we won't break THAT record this year.

On the opposite end of the temperature scale, the DNR said we all enjoyed a downright tropical Halloween back in 2000, when the temperatures across Minnesota were in the low 70's. That'd be nice, but we won't have that either this year.

We also have the slight possibility of some rain or snow showers in the forecast for Halloween, too. Which, believe it or not, IS kind of rare here in Minnesota. "In spite of the 1991 Halloween Blizzard," the DNR says, "Measurable snow on Halloween is about as rare as getting a full-sized candy bar in your trick-or-treat bag."
