Dodge Center, MN (KROC-AM News) - A construction company based in east-central Minnesota has been awarded the contract for the highly anticipated expansion of Highway 14 from Dodge Center to Owatonna.

The project will involve building a new four-lane highway from the west side of Dodge Center to just east of Owatonna. The Minnesota Department of Transportation says Shafer Contracting submitted the winning bid for the design-build project at just under $108 million. The overall cost of the project, including land acquisition expenses, was estimated at over $230 million.

MnDOT has scheduled a ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony for the project on November 1st in Claremont. The public is invited to attend.
