CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Extremely Rare Animal Spotted in Minnesota

Minnesota is home to so many amazing animals!  Thanks to some cameras placed in just the right spots, we can leave our hiking boots in the closet and enjoy a rare sighting of a wolf.  It's not just any wolf though, it is a lone wolf AND it is blonde!

The first “blonde” wolf we have captured on camera here! Certainly a very rare coat color for wolves in this area as we have thousands of videos of wolves and none quite like this one! And by blonde we mean the light, creamy colored fur around the wolf's neck and shoulders!
We have only seen this wolf on camera once. We do not know anything else about this wolf other than it is not part of a pack in the area (i.e., it is a lone wolf). We will see if shows up on camera again sometime soon! - Voyageurs Wolf Project Facebook Page

What is the Voyageurs Wolf Project in Minnesota?

I'm not really an outdoorsy type of person, mostly because snakes are out there and I'm not a fan.  I got a tip from one of my co-workers though about this wolf and started checking out the Voyageurs Wolf Project Facebook page and it is pretty fascinating.  I'm still not brave enough to check out this part of Minnesota but their videos of the wildlife they encounter are absolutely amazing and show a part of our state that many of us forget even exists.

The Voyageurs Wolf Project studies wolves and their prey (moose, deer, and beavers) during the summer in the Greater Voyageurs Ecosystem, which includes the area in and around Voyageurs National Park, in northern Minnesota.

To all who help with this, especially the creative geniuses who write for the Facebook page, thanks for doing what you do!  You've shown me a part of our world that I'm too scared to enjoy (and I'm sure I'm not the only one!).

Amazing Video Shows Black Bear Running in Southeast Minnesota

My heart is pounding just a little bit faster because I have a whole bunch of honey sitting in hives at my house and an animal that was just spotted in Southeast Minnesota LOVES honey. Yes, it was a bear. A pretty large (and fast!) black bear and it was caught on camera about 50 miles south of Rochester and really close to Iowa.  If the story didn't show up in your newsfeed, you can check out the video of the bear near Rochester here.
