Byron Veteran Finds Support from Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity
Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity and Family Service of Rochester are teaming up to help one Byron Veteran in need.
Bob McReynolds is a Navy Veteran, who dedicated his life to protect his country and those who live here. Now, Bob is fighting a new battle, one that involves proper access around his home. Since 2012 older adult falls are at an all time high in Minnesota. Thanks to a grant from Meals on Wheels, Two Rivers Habitat of Humanity and Family Service of Rochester are coming together to build Bob a ramp for better access into his home.
This project is a community collaboration at its finest. We’re thrilled to be able to work with Family Service Rochester and we’re so grateful for the leadership of the KM and Byron Lions Clubs. It’s an honor to serve a family who has served our county.- Kevin Worden, Two Rivers Habitat Executive Director
The ramp build is slated to begin today (September 24th). Two Rivers will over see the construction with volunteer construction help from the Byron and Kasson-Mantorville Lions Clubs.
Two Rivers has been serving the Rochester area since 1990 as well as their five county service area of Dodge, Olmsted, Steele, Wabasha and Waseca Counties. Family Service of Rochester is a community-based organization providing mental health, senior independence, child well-being, and family stability services throughout southeast Minnesota.
This project is one of several we have been able to accomplish with the support of a grant from Meals on Wheels funded through the Home Depot Foundation. We have also enjoyed a long history of partnerships on older adult home projects with Habitat for Humanity. It’s always great to be working them.- April Sutor, Director of Innovation and Collaboration at Family Service Rochester
