Blooming Prairie, Triton Open Girls Basketball Playoffs on the Road
Blooming Prairie (15-10) and Triton (12-14) have pretty good records for teams that start the playoffs on the road. But Section 1AA is pretty loaded. Five teams ranked by the Minnesota Basketball News reside in the section. Ten of the 16 teams have a winning record.
BP (the tenth seed) plays at Caledonia (seventh seed, 16-10) and Triton (14th seed) is at Winona Cotter (No. 14 ranked, third seed, 19-4) Thursday, February 24. Winners advance to the quarterfinals at Mayo Civic Center on March 1. Semifinals are March 5 and the championship game March 10 also in Rochester.
Blossoms coach John Bruns said the team should be healthier for the post season, "Haven Carlson has been out for a couple weeks with an ankle injury. We did get her back (Friday) night. She came off the bench and probably played 15-20 minutes and was good. She came out of the game feeling good about herself."

Cobras coach Dustin Wright says getting scoring balance is critical, "It's a really big thing to have that balance. Because every team is going to do what they can to limit Brylee (Iverson's) scoring. So if Azeri Thiemann and Gabi Molina and Jozey Boe and some of those girls can step up and be consistent scorers for us, that's going to go a long way toward us having a chance to knock somebody off here in the first round."
Triton has won four of their last six, thanks to a balanced offensive attack and solid defense, according to Wright.
