Three senior Blooming Prairie golfers wrapped up their prep careers in historic fashion this week. It was the first time the school had a trio of girls at state at the same time, according to coach Carl Peterson. Jessica Ressler rallied on the second day for a top ten finish after shaving a few strokes off her opening round score at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker.

Ressler, who tied for the Section 1A title, fired 89 on Wednesday after a 93 on Tuesday that had her tied for 22nd place. Her 182 total gave her sole possession of tenth in the Class A event. There was a tie for the state individual title at 166 between Sarah Halverson of Lac qui Parle Valley and Emily Stueland from Park Christian.

BP's Hallie Strunk shot a second-day 97 after an opening 90. The 187 total left her tied for 22nd place overall. Maggie Bruns shot a consistent 112-112 for a 224 total and 71st place finish in her first year of competitive golf. Bruns spoke about her transition to golf after a basketball injury forced her to make a change.

"The girls team had a successful season, winning the Gopher Conference title, finishing second at the Section 1A meet and sending three girls to the state tournament," said Peterson. "It was the first time the Blossoms had three girls at the state tournament at the same time."

Lake City won the Class AA girls title at Sand Creek in Jordan. Alexandria took the AAA title at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids. The boys team champs were Maple Grove in AAA, Cloquet in AA, and Fertile-Beltrami for A. Northfield's Nate Stevens won the boys AAA individual title.
