Bethlehem Academy Defeats W-E-M at Van Orsow
The Bethlehem Academy Cardinals boys nearly doubled the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers on the glass tonight in a 64-57 Gopher Conference win.
The rebound totals were 29 to 15 in favor of the Cardinals. The Buccaneers shot 54% from the field including 9 of 19 from three point range.
BA hit 50% of their shots and were 3 of 16 (18%) from long range. The Cardinals scored one more point from the free throw line 11-10.
Cardinals Head Coach Ed Friesen was happy with the defensive effort in the second half after trailing 35-33 at the half.
Bethlehem Academy senior Hudson Dillon had an outstanding night with 18 points on 7 of 10 shooting from the field. He also amassed 5 rebounds, 2 assists while playing every second of the game.
Senior Bradlee Sartor added 13 points and senior Justin Simones tallied 10 points and 8 rebounds while playing half the game with foul trouble.
Sophmore Aaron Huerta was 4 of 7 from the field off the bench for 8 points and added 7 rebounds.
The Buccaneers were led by Michael Taylor with 25 points, 6 assists while playing every millisecond of the game. Johnathan Remme accumulated 15 points in 18 minutes.
Bryce Hermel played every second while scoring 11 points for WEM.
The Cardinals committed only 7 turnovers in the game while the Buccaneers finished with 14 lost possessions. Points off turnovers favored BA 11 to 2.
Bethlehem Academy moves to 5-13 overall, 3-10 in the Gopher Conference while Waterville-Elysian-Morristown is 7-13, 4-10 in league play.
The Cardinals will play United Christian Academy Saturday in Van Orsow Auditorium at 2:30 p.m.
The game is scheduled to be taped for broadcast on FCTV.
