Baker’s Dozen of Ranked Wrestlers

As the state high school winter sports season begins to grind into action, a number of proven local wrestlers find themselves ranked about the state's elite. Time will tell if they get a full state meet opportunity to challenge the rest for a spot on the medal stand. Six Owatonna wrestlers are in the top ten of the latest Guillotine rankings. The team is rated No. 6AAA. Medford boasts six individually ranked grapplers as well. However, the team is only among the "Lean and Mean" category. NRHEG has one ranked wrestler.

Owatonna's ranked wrestlers:

• Cael Robb, so, No. 3 at 113 pounds
• Yves Evillard, jr, No. 9 at 126 pounds
• Jacob Reinardy, jr, No. 7 at 145 pounds
• Landen Johnson, jr, No. 2 at 160 pounds
• Kaden Nelson, sr, No. 9 at 170 pounds
• Matt Seykora, sr, No. 9 at 182 pounds

In the team rankings, Owatonna is No. 6 behind Stillwater Area, Shakopee, St. Michael-Albertville, Wayzata, and Forest Lake. The Huskies finished fourth at the state tournament in 2020. Section 1AAA rivals Northfield and Farmington are also ranked. Owatonna is scheduled to host Northfield (and Pine Island) Friday, January 15 at 5 pm at OHS. Listen for radio coverage on AM 1390 KRFO. Medford is rated 20th overall. Section 2A teams ranked ahead of of the Tigers are Blue Earth Area at No. 10 and Kenyon-Wanamingo at No. 13. Lester Prairie/Grey Eagle-Browerville is top-ranked, followed by Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, GMLOS, and Minnewaska to round out the top five. See the full Class A poll.
