If you check out the Parkwood Theaters website, you'll see that due to the current state mandate, they are closed until further notice. The current mandate ends in a little over a week but it looks like an extension is immanent and that's bad news for a lot of local businesses.

Restaurants and bars are severely affected but, at least, most restaurants have the ability to do delivery and/or takeout, giving them at least some incoming revenue. Movie theaters are pretty much stuck in a constant state of losses until this pandemic is under control.

The holiday season is always a big movie going time of the year but things don't look good for theaters this holiday season.

Since people have been left with no choice but to keep themselves entertained at home, the streaming and cable companies are booming.  What could really affect theaters, if and when they reopen, is that HBO Max will be getting the new movies the same time as theaters.

I don't know about you, but I, for one, enjoy going to a theater and enjoying new releases on the big screen. It would be a total shame to see our movie theaters go away for good.

The medical experts say that perhaps we can get back to somewhat normalcy by the end of next Summer or early Fall.  The question is, can theaters around the country hold out that long?
