An Eastern Iowa Brewery is Selling ‘Beer’ for Dogs
The next time you crack open a beer for yourself, you can grab one for your pup, too!
Backpocket Brewing in Coralville is getting ready to host a spring release party for their Barkpocket Dog Brew, a "beer" made specifically for man's best friend! If you're wondering what the dog brew contains, it's pretty simple. The Facebook page says it's made from "chicken and pork butt, carrots, celery, sweet corn, basil, mint, turmeric, ginger, parsley, salt and water." There is no actual beer present.
The spring release of Barkpocket Dog Brew will happen on Sunday, April 24th, and there will be a special party to celebrate. You can join the fun at 903 Quarry Rd in Coralville from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., and yes, your pup is invited! There will actually be a dog costume contest with the chance to win prizes. You can get more details on the event HERE.
Backpocket isn't the only popular beer brand to release a brew for pups. Busch launched one in 2020 that's "made with vegetables, herbs, spices, water, and pork broth to provide your best buddy with a nutritious and tasty snack that helps to promote a healthy digestive system." The company held a competition this March to find the new face of their beverage for dogs, and one of the two finalists was from here in Iowa! Unfortunately, Brew didn't end up winning (seriously, that's his name!), but he still beat out a ton of other pups to make it to the finals. You can read more about him HERE.
