Representatives of the Faribault chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will be on our AM Minnesota program at 9:30 a.m.  The 5th annual Halloween Scholarship Benefit Breakfast is scheduled for this Sunday.  We will get details about the location and serving time on the program.  Each year scholarships are awarded to female students thanks to the funds raised at these breakfasts.

Last year three $750 scholarships were awarded to South Central College female students.  The Faribault AAUW also gave two $1,000 scholarships to local women returning to college to complete their degrees.  Annually the local organization presents the AAUW Sportswoman of the Year award to a senior girl who excels in scholarship, sports, community activities, and extracurricular activities.

The Faribault AAUW worked diligently to rename the Faribault Municipal Airport after WWII Wasp, Liz Strohfus.  Two years ago it became a reality after approval by the City of Faribault and the Federal Aviation Administration.  It is believed to be the first airport named in honor of a WASP (Women's Air Service Pilot).
