Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A registered sex offender from Fairmont has been given a lengthy sentence to federal prison in a sextortion case.

21-year-old Dylan Deling, who also used the names Dylan Nash and Jason Keens, pleaded guilty last year to federal charges of production of child pornography and extortion. He was sentenced this morning to 35 years in prison.

“This defendant’s victimization went beyond sexual exploitation; his ultimate goal was to instill fear and humiliation. This type of depraved criminal behavior will not be tolerated,” said U.S. Attorney Erica MacDonald. It is my hope that today’s sentence represents justice and closure for the victims and their families.”

According to court files and his guilty plea, Deling victimized over 40 juvenile girls between the ages of 11 and 17 years old by convincing them to provide him with sexually explicit images of themselves. Prosecutors say he communicated with his victims through multiple social media and chat platforms that included Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, Kik, and Skype.

A news release from the US Attorney for Minnesota says Deling used a range of techniques that included compliments and expression of affection, threats to release compromising images, videos, and online communications, along with threats of physical and sexual violence against the girls or their loved ones. The crimes occurred between October 2017 and early August 2018.
