125 Days Until Smiles at the Steele County Fair
In about 125 days, many expect to gather for the Steele County Free Fair in Owatonna. While the theme this year is "Bringing back the Fun in 2021," fair manager Scott Kozelka has spoken as much about the smiles he expects to see, as about the fun that fairgoers are looking forward to. Join Kozelka for a special edition of "Fair Talk" on AM 1390 KRFO Friday, April 16 at 9:40 am, also simulcasting on 94.7 FM.
Kozelka remains optimistic for a 'normal' fair, though he admits there are still some uncertainties. He and the fair staff are working on multiple plans based on possible guidelines from political and health officials.
Smiles should be plentiful, even if they are hidden behind masks at times. Between camel rides, the new display 'Jurassic Kingdom' and all the regular attractions that bring about 300,000 visitors each year to Owatonna, Kozelka hopes there's much to smile about.
A new feature to be watching for in 2021 (and it will be hard to miss) is Max Power and NITRO. The nine-foot tall robot will roam the fairgrounds, talking and dancing. NITRO is his monster truck.
