Saturday was a tough day for Owatonna, Blooming Prairie and Triton baseball teams who were all eliminated from section play.

Owatonna senior Nolan Malo hit the first home run of his high school career Thursday night. The two-run shot in the last of the seventh inning gave the Huskies a 3-1 walk-off victory over Rochester Century

Blooming Prairie baseball won its second straight elimination game 11-10 over United South Central with a walk-off two-run single by Seth Peterson to advance to this weekend's Section 1A final four. Three Owatonna playoff games were washed away by the weather on Tuesday.

Triton beat Lourdes 3-1 Monday to win the subsection. Blooming Prairie beat Hayfield 5-3 to stay alive in their tournament.

Owatonna beat Rochester John Marshall 5-2 in Saturday's first round of the Section 1AAAA baseball playoffs. OHS hosts Century Tuesday. Triton edged Pine Island 4-3 in Section 1AA. Blooming Prairie fell to Lyle-Pacelli 3-2 in 1A. The Cobras and Blossoms each play on Memorial Day.

The Owatonna girls' fast pitch softball team won a thriller 7-6 over Lakeville South Thursday at Todd Park in Austin. Rochester John Marshall eliminated OHS from the Section 1AAAA tournament 8-1 after that.

Jordan ended Kenyon-Wanamingo's baseball season with an 11-1 six-inning win at the Mini Met.

After a Big Nine championship season, Owatonna baseball collected the top seed for the Section 1AAAA playoffs beginning Memorial Day weekend with a Saturday game at 1 pm at Fuller Field at Dartt's Park.

Maple River rallied in the second half for a 61-57 win over New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva in the boys' basketball 2AA South Subsection final Monday night at the Taylor Center at Minnesota State Unversity-Mankato.

Owatonna's boys' basketball team made enough plays to stay within striking distance of No. 6-ranked Rochester John Marshall, but missed too many shots to upset the second-seeded Rockets in Saturday's Section 1AAAA semifinal at Mayo Civic Center. The Rockets edged the Huskies 68-66 to move to the section finals against Lakeville North Saturday, March 17.
