The Steele County Safe and Drug Free Coalition is on a one-year hiatus from federal funding. Recently an application was filed for funding to resume from SAMHSA starting in October. As a result, the coalition is seeking helping with funding until that time comes. About $25,000 is needed.

Those interested in helping out with a donation may go to the gofundme website and make a donation. Interested parties may also drop off donations at the Steele County United Way office in Owatonna.

In the coalition's first five years, some of the accomplishments include the installation of two drug disposal boxes in Blooming Prairie and Owatonna, along with educational curriculum in area schools reaching more than 4,000 students.
