Owatonna and Brainerd Meet Saturday in Semifinals
In a rematch of the 2013 Prep Bowl championship game held at the Metrodome, Owatonna and Brainerd will clash in the semifinals Saturday, November 18 at U.S. Bank Stadium. While the players are all different, the coaching staffs and schemes remain mostly the same.
Owatonna runs with three and four-wide formations, but has a record-setting running back to hand the ball too. In 2013 it was Aaron Peterson. Now it is Jason Williamson who has broken nearly all of Peterson's records. Brainerd will rely on a ground game with a workhorse running back. In 2013, the Warriors were a bit more balanced between two backs.
OHS coach Jeff Williams says the Huskies enjoyed Wednesday's trip to the UNI Dome at the University of Northern Iowa, which gives the players the chance to get the feel of an indoor football game. Williams also comments on what the Warriors do offensively and defensively.
Assistant coach Doug Wanous says the Huskies' offensive line and running back Jason Williamson work well off of each other.
As Williamson rewrites the record book at OHS, 2014 graduate and member of the the 2013 state title team running back Aaron Peterson joined KRFO to share some memories.
