Several youth events are scheduled in Owatonna this weekend, including youth league bowling signup, the Elks hoop shoot and a skating show at Four Seasons in Owatonna.

The Smashmore Juniors Youth Bowling League registration is at Sparetime Entertainment on 18th Street Southeast in Owatonna on Saturday, December 17, from 9:15-11AM. It is open to youth ages 6-19 and meets most Saturdays January through April at Sparetime. Bowlers do not need to live in Owatonna to sign up and no experience is necessary. The cost is $10 per week plus a one-time $20 sanction fee. The Elks hoop shoot for boys and girls ages 8-13 is postponed to Saturday January 7 at 2PM at the Owatonna Junior High School. The local competition is open to children from Owatonna, Blooming Prairie, Medford, Ellendale and Waseca. The top three in each age category will get a trophy and the top shooter receives a basketball and a chance to advance to regional competition. All participants get a free t-shirt.

The Owatonna Figure Skating Club hosts a holiday recital Sunday, December 18, at 6PM at the Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna. Learn to Skate students will display their skills. Freestyle skaters will perform their competition number or other programs they have put together. Admission is free and it is open to the public.
