Fall colors are slowly descending upon us in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Based on the fall foliage prediction map fall colors should peak in southern Minnesota around October 11th. However, for this year's leaf-peeping trip you may want to consider going over to Wisconsin.

My husband and I like to try and get out to a state park for a hike when the fall colors are around their peak. It's nice to hike and see all of the amazing bright colors but also because the weather in the fall is typically perfect for hiking.

We may be heading over to Wisconsin for our leaf-peeping hike this year because KARE 11 is saying that because of our drought throughout the summer in Minnesota the colors won't be nearly as vibrate as usual. However, over in Wisconsin, they weren't hit as bad with the drought so the fall colors are expected to be awesome.

Since we usually stick with Minnesota for looking at fall colors, I decided to do some digging to figure out some of the best spots in Wisconsin for leaf-peeping. Here are some ideas from Travel Wisconsin.

Door County
Great River Road (This road starts in Prescott, super close to the Twin Cities, and runs down the Mississippi River.)
Northwoods

Of course, you don't have to go to these spots to see great fall colors in Wisconsin. There are plenty of parks on the western side of the state that you can check out and won't be nearly as long of a drive as, let's say, Door County.
