WAITE PARK -- There's a new top dog in Waite Park these days and his name is Bosco.

The German Shepherd is the newest addition to the police department and arrived last month.

Bosco and his handler, Officer Andrew Lehmkuhl, are currently undergoing a 15 week training course which focuses on apprehension of violent offenders, tracking suspects, locating narcotics, and community engagement.

Once training is completed, both will be certified and ready for duty.

The Waite Park police department would like to thank all the community partners who have supported and contributed to the Paws for Laws fundraiser.

Bosco is the first police dog for the department since 2019, after Waite Park put a pause in their K-9 program due to staffing shortages and budget constraints.
