US Marshals Capture Rochester Murder Suspect
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A man wanted in a Rochester murder case has been apprehended in the Twin Cities.
Rochester police say U.S. Marshals apprehended 21-year-old Ty'Jhuan Anderson earlier today at a residence in Hennepin County. The Olmsted County Attorney's Office issued a warrant for his arrest on November 19th.
Anderson is charged with second-degree murder, second-degree attempted murder, and a felony count for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is accused of shooting and killing 18-year-old Mikayal Gordon of Rochester and critically wounding a 20-year-old man in a shooting that took place in a hallway at the Village of Essex apartment complex on October 30.
The criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court says Anderson was in the vehicle that was stopped by Rochester police shortly after the shooting was reported. He goes on to say he was "belligerent and appeared intoxicated" when he told officers that he had been at a downtown bar before going to a party at the apartment complex where the shooting occurred.
Investigators later obtained Snapchat videos taken at the party that showed Anderson brandishing a handgun that appeared to be identical to the firearm but was found outside the apartment complex following the shooting. The charges also indicate a witness identified Anderson as the shooter and told investigators that Anderson had been involved in an argument with the victims just before they were shot.
Officials have not said when Anderson will be returned to Rochester for his formal arraignment in Olmsted County Court.
