If you're looking to escape the cold and have some relaxing fun in the sun, how does a trip to Florida to watch Minnesota Twins Spring Training games sound?

The Twins announced Wednesday that they received approval from Major League Baseball and Lee County, Florida officials to welcome a limited number of fans back to Hammond Stadium at CenturyLink Sports Complex for the 2021 Spring Training season, beginning with the Twins’ Grapefruit League home opener.

Also, the Twins and Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, in collaboration with MLB and public health officials, will implement enhanced health and safety protocols and procedures at the CenturyLink Sports Complex adhering to requirements and guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

In accordance with the new protocols, slightly more than 2,400 fans per game (about 28 percent of the normal capacity of 8,730) can attend a 2021 Twins Spring Training home game at Hammond Stadium, as the club has developed a physically-distanced seating plan utilizing “pods” (sold in sets of 2 or 4 contiguous seats only) to maximize guest comfort and safety.

Because there is limited capacity, the Twins have discontinued season and group ticket plans, while existing Twins Spring Training Season Ticket Holders will have exclusive access to purchase single-game tickets for the 2021 spring season before those tickets are released to the general public.

Twins pitchers and catchers are due to report to Fort Myers on Thursday, February 18, with the first full squad workout set for Tuesday, February 23 and the first of 16 scheduled Grapefruit League home games at Hammond Stadium slated for Sunday, February 28 vs. Baltimore.

The team says they will release specific information regarding when, where and how to purchase tickets to 2021 Spring Training home games at Hammond Stadium in the near future.  At that time, they will also provide health and safety protocols implemented at the CenturyLink Sports Complex (including guest and staff PPE requirements, cleaning and disinfecting enhancements, concession and retail operations, entry guidelines, and modifications to facilitate physical distancing and minimize touchpoints throughout).
