Dover, MN (KROC-AM News) - An unknown number of turkeys died when a semi-truck crashed near Dover early today.

Olmsted County Sheriff's Captain Scott Behrns says the truck was hauling a shipment of live turkeys for Jennie-O Turkey when the load shifted as the truck was rounding the curve on County Road 10 at the junction with County Road 30 about 2 miles south of Dover. The shift caused the truck to overturn and kill an undetermined number of the turkeys.

Captain Behrns says staff from Jennie-O were called to the scene to handle the dead and injured birds. The crash was reported just after 12:30 AM and deputies remained at the scene until almost 7 AM while the roadway was cleared.

The truck driver, 56-year-old Jonathon Paulzine of Barron, Wisconsin, was not injured and there were no indications of impairment.
