Position Overview

Townsquare Media is looking for hard working, team oriented, talented professionals that want to pursue a career in media. The ideal candidate is an outgoing, reliable, self-starter with a flexible schedule to provide support to multiple departments including our operations, broadcast, digital, and events. You’ll be our in-studio producer for live events, assist our digital department in creating content for our digital platforms, represent our stations on-site at local events, and connect with listeners, clients, and community leaders as a brand ambassador.

General Responsibilities

  • Operates control board for studios and remote programming.
  • Regulates program timing, operates syndicated programming, and plays commercials.
  • Monitors the technical quality and accuracy of incoming and outgoing on-air programming from master control room.
  • Protects station’s license by censoring live programs and deleting words/phrases not permitted on air.
  • Processes time-out programming for accurate play back.
  • Follows all FCC guidelines.
  • Checks studio equipment for proper functioning and notifies Engineering of technical malfunctions affecting quality of the broadcast.
  • Screens in-coming phone calls and selectively chooses callers for On-Air Talent and talk shows.
  • Handles emergency inserts (e.g. news updates, breaking stories, alert system tests, etc.).
  • Drives promotional vehicles.
  • Performs basic office administrative functions and updates station web site and socials (as directed).
  • Conducts on-site promotions, and handles clients and listeners.
  • Sets up and runs audio and other types of equipment; hangs banners and other staging elements.
  • Records events (i.e. photos, videos, audio and social media measures for station promotions).
  • Sets up, breaks down and transports promotional event equipment as required.

Qualifications

  • High digital proficiency with a working knowledge of basic html, blogging, and social media.
  • Strong background and fluency in social networking and online marketing.

  • Must be a self-starter who excels at working independently, with a proven track record of independent judgment and decision making.
  • Willingness to multi-task and work beyond the job description.
  • Availability to work days, nights, and weekends.
  • Project management from start to finish, assuming responsibility and accountability for assignments and tasks.
  • Education: High school degree required.  College degree preferred.

General Responsibilities

  • Prospect for qualified local and regional businesses; conduct thorough Customer Needs Analysis (C N A); present and close appropriate marketing solution programs. These programs may include any of Townsquare Media’s many assets for clients: Broadcast and Online radio, digital products such as display, streaming, loyalty programs, e-commerce, audience extension and digital marketing services.
  • Leverage our live sports programming through sponsorship and sales programs to new and existing clients.
  • Leverage our live event platform through sponsorship and sales programs to new and existing clients.
  • Create new relationships with local and regional businesses in our area.
  • Work with local and corporate marketing teams to develop campaign support materials.
  • Responsible to accurately project revenues, meet and exceed monthly budgets for all product lines and overachieve annual budgets.
  • Enter new customer data and other sales contract details for station clients.
  • Follow accountabilities set forth by your Sales Manager to help guide you to success achieving monthly sales quotas consistently.
  • Provide insight and value to executive management to shape the future of our organization.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and execute all local sports broadcasts, as well as all sports content on our digital properties.
  • Monitor sports programs to ensure they are of the highest quality.
  • Develop and maintain connections with local Athletic Directors, regional on-air sports personnel, and all departments within TSQ to the extent that they have an impact on our sports department.
  • Serve as station representative to Athletic Departments, local schools, and key athletic sponsors.
  • Work with station Brand Managers and Digital Managing Editors to create new sports content on air and online.
  • Perform such other duties as are incumbent upon the Sports Director or as assigned by the Market Manger, Operations Manager, Brand Manager, or Digital Managing Editor.
  • Comply with all FCC broadcast requirements.
  • Report and write sports posts with a strong sense of urgency, energy and tenacity.
  • Engages and embraces the community through frequent posts online, pieces in print and appearances in other media.
  • Write clearly and authoritatively, with sophistication, absolute accuracy and balance, all while doing it on deadline and in a variety of technology tools and social media platforms.
  • As an editor, must understand what the fan audience needs and wants each day of the week and have the ability to see and produce socially sharable content consistently throughout the day.
  • Creates photo galleries, quizzes, memes, GIFs from photographs and videos.
  • Manage time effectively, juggling long-term and short-term work. Consistently meets deadlines and goals set by supervisors.
  • Collaborates effectively with others, along with communicate and work effectively with a team.
  • Must have reliable transportation, or access to it, and be able to travel within the assigned area when needed.
