‘Top Gun’ Day
Imagine my surprise and delight when I found out that every May 13th is "Top Gun" Day! Who doesn't love Maverick, Iceman, and of course, Goose? "Top Gun" came out in 1986, and it is still one of those movies you can just quote in any situation, and I still do. I love to say no to my daughter, "That's a negative Ghost Rider," even though she doesn't quite get the reference.
So, go old-school, and fire up the VCR to enjoy fighter pilots, a very fit cast playing shirtless volleyball, and Kenny Loggins singing "Highway to the Danger Zone." Of course, if you no longer have a VCR, you can find the movie on DVD, or streaming somewhere.
I am going to enjoy the movie for about the 100th time, and sing along to the soundtrack. For more ideas and the history of the day, click here.
