It's that time of year where we are starting to hit our stride for town celebrations. This weekend marks the 50th Straight River Days celebration in Medford. If you've never been to Straight River Days in the past, there's no time like the present to roll on in to town to check out the fun. A change this year is the parade route, as it is starting in a different location this year.

The parade this year is on Friday night at 7pm with parade units lining up in order at the school. The parade will run West on 2nd Ave NE, then turn left onto 1st Street SE, the parade will then go right onto 1st Ave NE for one block and then head south on Main Street. The parade goes left on 2nd Ave SE then wraps up by going left on 3rd Street SE until it connects with 2nd Ave NE again.

The parade in years past lined up on 3rd Ave SE where the old school was located and ran a slightly different route. Since this is the 50th Straight River Days celebration there are plenty of new things happening this weekend. Some of the new things being offered in Medford this weekend include a pool party on Saturday, barrel rides for kids, and a kid zone. Thursday night actually kicks off the town celebration with the flag-raising ceremony at the Veterans Memorial.

Power 96 will be on the roof of the Medford Muni Saturday night for the concert, and I'm sure there will be some things to be tossed off the roof like usual.
