Target Field is home to the Minnesota Twins, but is it true that the most popular beer poured there isn't even from Minnesota?

That's the question this new survey ListWire set out to answer-- and their answer here in Minnesota is a bit of a head-scratcher. Is that really correct that despite the fact that there are a TON of incredible craft breweries not only in the Twin Cities but across Minnesota, the most popular beer at Target Field is an interloper NOT from the Land of 10,000 Lakes?

Well, to get a better handle on this SCANDAL, we checked in with the folks over at ListWire. According to THIS article:

We hit up our friends at Untappd, the social app that allows you to check in at different locations and record the different beers you drink there. Our question was simple: 'What was the most “checked-in” beer at all 30 ballparks?'

And, yeah, once again here in Minnesota in 2021 (the most recent year from which Untappd gathered data) the most checked-in beer at Target Field was... Next Coast IPA, made by Goose Island Brewing in Chicago (which is actually owned by Anheuser-Busch, makers of Budweiser and Bud Lite.)

Interestingly, Next Coast IPA was also the most checked-in beer at Target Field back in 2019, the year before the pandemic shut fans out of ballparks around the country during the 2020 season.

So how does a Chicago beer become the most popular at Target Field in Minnesota? I'm not really sure, especially since 2021, Minnesota's own Summit Brewing of St. Paul, and its Summit Brew Pub occupies the space that was previously the Goose Island Pub.

So perhaps the answer is that the Untappd data is still a bit slow to catch up. Hopefully one of our great Minnesota beers will be the most checked-in this year and, thus, will become the most popular at Target Field this season.

Of course, the survey didn't list the price of each beer-- which could have possibly affected its popularity. Because having an adult beverage at Minnesota's only MLB ballpark isn't cheap.

According to the Twins website, draft beer starts at $12.49 while a glass of wine will run you $10, with mixed drinks priced between $11.99 to $21.99! The following people likely don't have to worry about drink prices, though-- seeing as they're the highest-paid athletes in Minnesota. Keep scrolling to see who they are!
