The 2021 Minnesota Craft Brewers Cup Awards Produces Some Local Winners
Prost!, Zum Wohl! That's German for cheers for good, and some hearty cheers need to be given to the folks at some local breweries here in Southern Minnesota for taking home some hardware at the Minnesota Craft Brewers Cup awards ceremony on November 18, 2021.
According to the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild website "This year, the Brewers Cup Competition had 450 beers entered from 85 breweries and brewpubs in the state. Beers were submitted to 26 categories based on beer style. Submissions were judged blind by 20 beer judges based on how well each submission represented the standards of its style."
So which local breweries took home some hardware? Here are the local breweries that won awards, followed by the place and category they placed in.
New Prague's Giesenbräu Bier Co's Hildy’s Helles German Lager took 2nd place in the Pale Lagers category. Giesenbräu Bier Co's Nova Praha Med Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout also took home a 2nd place medal for the wood beer category.
Dundas' Chapel Brewing's Duke Pilsner won first place in the Czech Lager category.
Rochester's Little Thistle Brewing Co, Brave Woman finished in 3rd place in the English Bitter, Irish & Scottish Ales category.
While it's a little bit closer to the metro area, Eagan's Bald Man Brewing also won some awards. Their Tupelo Honey Brown Ale took home 2nd place in the Brown Ales & Porters category.
Mankato-based LocAle Brewing Company also walked out of the awards dinner with some hardware, even winning in the same category twice! Locale Brewing Company's Sibling and Aromaticity won 1st and 2nd place in the American Wild Ales category.
Congrats to all the area brewers for their winning beers, maybe this weekend after Thanksgiving you can get out and try one of these area breweries and sample some of the winners with your family and friends.
